Hang En cave, the third world largest cave following to Son Doong and Deer cave, is a very special cave. This is the most exotic, breath taking and unique cave with three entrances. With 1.645m long thrusting through a huge mountain, the cave opens to three entrances, one at the halfway to the mountain top and two at the foothill toward south-east and north-west of Rao Thuong stream. This feature is hardly found at other famous caves of Vietnam
While trekking to Son Doong somehow is limited due to natural protection, tour to Hang En cave is more opened. We are introducing the best caving adventure to the location of an adwarded photo by NatGeo, Hang En cave

Day 1: Dong Hoi – Phong Nha Ke Bang - Hang En cave

07:00: ActiveTravel Asia cave trekking guide will meet you at your hotel in Dong Hoi (transfer excluded). Our guide briefs the tour plan on the way we transfer to Phong Nha Ke Bang national park, whose the core is the world-class, famous caving system. Unloading things then we start hiking into jungle. You will be escorted and supported by an experienced guide, porter(s) and a forest ranger.

11:30: We hike to Doong Village, stop for picnic lunch in the village. After lunch we begin a trek through jungle toward En Cave (Swallow Cave). The trek trails include up then down muddy, dirty paths and twist along beautiful streams.

14:00 Finally arrive at Hang En Cave after about 2 hours hiking. The cave makes a very first but unforgettable impression by its giant, 120m high mouth. Getting inside, you shortly find the place where Carsten Peter took the winning photo of monthly Natural Photography Award by National Geography.

Hang En cave has several “sky wills” on its dome which are actually sinkholes. These “sky wills” lead sunlight deeply into underground then reflect to the inside lake surfaces. That makes the entire scenery sparkling, splendid as in a magic world. You also encounter hundred sleeping swallows (“En” in Vietnamese). The living of swallows here is the reason for this cave’s name.

Set the tent, catch natural fish for our dinner there. Free time to chit chat with our guide to know more about the cave before sleeping time.
